What is Burrata Cheese, and why should you care?
Burrata is an Italian cow milk cheese made by combining mozzarella and cream. The outer shell of Burrata is solid mozzarella, while the inside contains stracciatella and cream, giving it an incredibly irresistible, soft texture. Burrata in my kitchen will always be preferred over regular mozzarella due to its texture and creaminess. The only other cheese from this kind I absolutely adore is buffalo mozzarella!
What makes the ingredients so important?
Growing up in Bulgaria, I had the luxury of eating the sweetest, juiciest tomatoes that could possibly exist in this world. My grandmother always had her own garden, and I will never forget or stop appreciating the smell of the tomato plant leaves, and the huge, ugly tomatoes she’d pick off the vines that are ultimately the most delicious ones! They were so big, you could prepare an entire salad to feed three people with just one tomato!
Throughout my life in both Europe and in the U.S., I’ve learned that one thing matters most when it comes to food and cooking, and that one thing is fresh, incredible ingredients. It’s not about a complex recipe that takes hours to prepare, or exquisite cooking skills that could intimidate your average foodie.
Fresh, delicious ingredients, all combined to perfection to create a feast for the palate – this is what you have in this simple, yet show stopping, incredible Caprese salad with burrata cheese and balsamic glaze.
How should I serve this Salad?
I make this as a side, an appetizer, a main course even – and every time I serve this, it’s a crowd pleaser and a cause for conversation simply due to the beauty it presents on a plate.

Directions
- Slice your heirloom tomatoes.
